Welcome to a beginner’s guide on how to get stronger in Hero Wars. Here are some tips and tricks on how to progress further into the game, increasing your team’s overall power and leveling your heroes fast in the game.Do the Campaign firstOnce you finish with the tutorial, do the campaign stages as far as you can (Main Menu-Campaign). This is where you will obtain team EXP, hero EXP, Gold, and gear. As you level up, you will be able to unlock more features in the game. When you select a stage, you will be able to see the difficulty of each stage and your team’s overall power. You will also be able to choose your heroes for battle (maximum of 5 heroes). The higher your team’s overall power, the easier the difficulty of the stage.
Hero Wars is a free to play action strategy RPG adventure game where you journey through a fantasy world collecting heroes and their equipment to build a powerful party. You can then test your survival skills in Hero-Survival mode, pit your strategies in Raid mode or plan your defence in Wave mode. Guilds are created for cooperation between players in achieving some common goals or just for having fun and chatting with comrades. Active guild members can get valuable items for heroes' upgrades (see 'Runes and Glyphs' for more information). Guilds are available since the 30th team level.
Make sure to also complete each stage with 3 stars (By not letting any of your heroes die). The more stars you have achieved during the Campaign, the more rewards you will get (Main Menu-Events-All Stars).Setting up your teamEach hero will have its own type of role:. Tank – These tanks have high HP and Armor which are great for protecting your heroes from enemy attacks. Usually placed at the frontline. Warrior – Not as beefy as tanks but they can deal high physical damage to enemies than tanks.
You can use it as a sub tank or melee DPS. Usually placed either at the frontline or midline. Healer – The only role which can heal a hero or multiple heroes. They can sometimes provide buffs to heroes. Usually placed at the backline. Support – Mainly provides buffs/shields to all heroes. Usually placed at the backline.
Marksman – They are the ones who will deal high range physical DPS against enemies. Avoid placing them at the front as they are pretty squishy. Usually placed at the backline.
Mages – Works the same as Marksman but they deal high magic DPS. Avoid placing them at the front as they are pretty squishy. Usually placed at the backline. Control – Provides debuffs against enemies. Usually very effective against bosses or against enemies in the Arena. So which is the best team setup?
For me, I would put at least 1 tank, 1 warrior and the rest either mages or marksmen. If you want your heroes to survive longer, replace either your mages or marksmen with support or healer heroes. Some heroes, however, will have 2 roles instead of 1 so make sure to check their roles properly while setting up your team.Set your team to Auto ModeAfter you gain a few levels you will be able to set the battle to ‘Auto Mode’. I highly recommend doing so as there is not much strategy unless you want to set your heroes’ skills manually. Setting the battle to ‘Auto Mode’ will automatically activate your heroes’ skills once they are available. Since every stage the battle mode is set to manual by default, don’t forget to set to ‘Auto Mode’ always.Obtaining new heroesThere are multiple ways to obtain new heroes.
From the Campaign, there are some stages that have a hero icon above it. You can do them for hero soul stones. Once you have enough hero soul stones and Gold, you can unlock that hero. There is also another way to obtain heroes which is from the Heroic Chest (Main Menu-Tap the golden chest). This is where you can spend your Gems to for a chance to obtain a legendary hero. I highly recommend saving your Gems until you have about 1500 to open the x10 chests (25% discount). This will increase the chances of obtaining a legendary hero.
Every 24 hours, you will be able to open a free chest so make sure to do so.What are the best heroes for team building? Best tanks/warriors. Galahad: As a starter hero, he is actually pretty good as he has high armor and can also deal quite a lot of damage. But he does not have a self-heal/self-buff skills which make him quite squishy during the late game. I would say he is great for team comps who prioritize damage only.
Aurora: At the start, she can be quite squishy in the beginning especially if she does not have access to the Rainbow Halo skill (Achieved at Violet rank). But once she has that skill, it grants a shield absorbing magic damage. Not only that, the shield will explode after absorbing a certain amount of damage which deals damage to nearby enemies. This makes her a very good tank even during the late game. She is great for magic-based team comps since she mainly deals magic damage. Astaroth: Another decent starter as his Flame Veil skill grants a shield that blocks physical damage for the whole team. His Devastation skill is great for burning the enemy’s energy.
He can also revive a hero or himself with his Last Word skill which is game-changing especially for PvP. Since he deals magic damage thanks to his skills, he fits very well for magic-based team comps and PvP team comps. Cleaver: Many veteran players will agree that this hero is OP for a tank.
His skills allow him to hook his enemies and also deal pure damage + stuns enemies. Cleaver can only be obtained from the Heroic Chest Summon.Best marksman/mages. Daredevil: For a starter, Daredevil is great to use during the early game.
Deals decent physical damage to the whole enemy team with her Big Badda Boom! And Firefight skills. Her Discharge skill is a debuff skill which reduces their movement and attack speeds. Good for physical-based team comps. Kai: If you are looking for a strong late game magic-based hero, Kai will be your answer.
He is a mage that can throw all targets in the air while dealing high magic damage (Fetters of the Wind skill). Not only that, his Stolen Life skill allows him to increase his vampirism (Increase life steal) with every hit. Great for magic-based team comps. Astrid and Lucas: For a strong physical-based hero, Astrid and Lucas are pretty good to have in your physical-based team comps. Her attacks will stack rage which once it is full, her pet will turn into rage mode which deals high amounts of physical damage and can stun an enemy.Best healers/supports.
Thea: This hero will be available in the early parts of the game which she does her job as her healer pretty well. She has 2 main healing skills, Solar Sanctuary (Heals the entire team) and Healing Beam (Heals an ally with the lowest HP). Thea can also disrupt enemies thanks to her Vow of Silence skill (silences enemies). Celeste: Though this hero can be quite difficult to use at first, she is actually very strong which she both heal and also deal high magic damage to enemies. You can switch between 2 Forms between Light and Dark. Her Light form mainly heals or provides buffs to your team and her Dark Form deals magic damage and debuffs enemies.Hero Wars Tier List (As of 2019) S Tier.

Leveling up heroes. Evolving heroes. Equipping gear. Upgrading skills. Skin upgrade. Obtaining and upgrading artifacts.
Upgrading Glyphs using the Forge (Guild). Gift of the Elements (Guild)Other than playing in the Campaign, you can use EXP potions to increase a hero’s level (Tap the arrow icon beside the EXP bar). There are 4 different types of potions with each one gives a certain amount of hero EXP. One thing to note is that you can only level up heroes up to your current team’s level. Once a hero has the required number of soul stones, you can evolve them to increase its power greatly (Tap ‘Evolve’). However, you will also need a lot of Gold to evolve a hero. Each hero will have 6 gear slots to equip your gear.
Some of the gear you can either equip or have to craft first before you can equip (Tap the ‘+’ icon to equip/craft). To know how to obtain a certain gear, tap the magnifying glass icon then tap the magnifying glass icon again. This will show you which campaign stages that gear will drop.
Equipping a gear will increase certain stats to your hero. Once you equipped all 6 slots, you can tap on the ‘Promote’ button to increase all your hero stats and gear rank.
This is where you will have to start over and equip the new 6 slots before you can promote that hero again.Upgrading heroes (Part 2)All heroes will have 4 different skills (Starts off with 1). To unlock the other 3 skills, your character must reach the required gear rank (Green, Blue, and Violet). You can use skill points and Gold to upgrade a hero’s skill (Tap on the green arrow to upgrade). 1 skill point will recharge every 5 mins. Avoid using your Gems to upgrade your hero skills. As for hero skins, you will need Skin Stones to upgrade either the default skin level or unlock a unique skin (Increases a certain stat). You can obtain Skin Stones daily from the Skin Sale (Main Menu-Events-Skin Sale).Artifacts are a special type of equipment used to power up heroes.
It works similar to equipping gear but your hero will have 3 artifact slots and you can either level up or evolve them. Artifacts can only be obtained from opening Artifact Chests from the Airship (Requires Artifact Chest Keys or Gems). You will be given a free Artifact Chest Key from the ‘Valkyrie’s Favor’ daily and you can obtain 2 more from Daily Quests. To level up or evolve an Artifact, you will need materials which can mainly be obtained from doing Expeditions.Check your inventoryYou can also check your inventory to see all the items you have obtained (Main Menu-Inventory).
Make sure to open all the chests from the ‘Consumable’ tab to obtain mainly EXP potions, Gold and high rarity gear. Do not sell any of your gear as you will not obtain a lot of Gold from it and your low rarity gear can be useful for your newly obtained heroes to equip.Invite and send gifts to your friendsAlways add and accept as many friends as possible (Main Menu-Friends). This is because you can send/receive more gifts to/from your friends to obtain friendship points. These points can be used at the Merchant for you to purchase gear and hero soul stones. If you want, you can also unfriend inactive players from your friend’s list by tapping the ‘Delete Inactive’ button.Join a GuildThe Guild feature will be unlocked at level 30.
If you have not done so, I would suggest joining a Guild as soon as you can (Main Menu-Guild). You will be able to unlock the Forge and the Gift of the Elements features to increase your hero’s power even further.
There are also other Guild features available such as:. Dungeon – This is where you can use your Titans to complete dungeons for Titanite and Titan potions. Obtaining enough Titanite will reward you with Summoning Spheres. Each dungeon has its own requirement of which Titans you can only use. Heart of Power – This is where you can use runes to enchant your Glyphs or Sparks of Power to upgrade your hero’s stats from the Gift of the Elements.
Competitions – This is where you can take part in Guild War where your Guild will be battling against another random Guild for various rewards. Circle of Summoning – This is where you can use Summoning Spheres or Gems to summon Titans. Titans – This is where you can use Titan potions to increase the level of your Titan. Using Titan potions rewards you with Sparks of Power. To obtain runes, you will need the required Guild activity points (Tap ‘Rewards’). There are 3 ways to obtain activity points.
The first is by doing the Campaign. The second is by exchanging your unwanted gear for activity points. The third is by using the Forge to upgrade your hero’s Glyph. How do I obtain Guild Activity Points? You can obtain them by completing Missions, Exchanging items to the Guild and upgrading Glyph level (Main Menu-Guild-Tap the green ‘Rewards’ button.Do the other modesMake sure to check out and do the other modes other than the Airship for more rewards.
Here are the different modes I recommend doing daily. Outland – This is where you can do the Highwaymen dungeon where you can obtain chests or the Masters dungeon where you can obtain Outland Coins, Skin Stones, and hero soul stones. Each boss in the Masters dungeon has its own requirement of which heroes you are only able to deploy. Arena – This is where you can battle against other players to climb up in the rankings and obtain Arena coins. These Arena coins can be used to purchase hero soul stones and gear from the Merchant (Arena Shop). You can also change your defense team by tapping the ‘Change’ button. Grand Arena – Similar to Arena but you will obtain high rarity gear and hero soul stones.
Tower – You will battle against enemies for each floor. The higher the floor the tougher the enemies but better the rewards.Check out the Merchant/Obtaining more GoldThe Merchant is where you can purchase different resources like EXP potions, hero soul stones, gear, Gold and many more using different currencies. There is a ‘Theater’ shop where you can purchase resources using tickets.
Tickets can be obtained by watching the short video ads (Tap ‘Get Ticket’). You can only obtain 8 tickets daily so make sure to watch the video ads daily. This is also the only free way to purchase raid tickets. What it does is that you can instantly clear a stage in the Campaign (Must require 3-star completion) without going through the whole battle.Complete the Quests, Daily Quests, and EventsMake sure to complete all the Quests, Daily Quests, and Events as you will obtain tons of rewards and also gain lots of team EXP which you will be able to level up much faster.Do the Daily Quests first as these will reset daily (Collect the free energy ones as well).
Then do the Events as these will reward you with special items that are not found in the Campaign. As of Quests, you can do at your own pace as they are not time-limited. On a side note, some of the rewards can be collected from the Mail so always check your Mail often.Becoming P2WIf you are going to spend a lot of time in this game and wants to accelerate your progress much faster than the rest, it is best to recharge Gems using real money (sucks to be F2P). The game does reward you a lot if you recharge Gems for the first time and the more money you spend on Gems, the greater the VIP rewards/unlocks that you will get.Thank you so much for reading this guide.
